Every tragedy has an origin story...
"Stillborn Hope Vol I" is the second chapter of an ambitious new trilogy from Ozul. Serving as the narrative prequel to the 2024 album, "Man on the Shore" (inspired by real events).
"Stillborn Hope Vol I" rewinds the clock to explore the "why".
While the previous record depicted the protagonist’s final, tragic discovery on the water's edge, "Vol I" traces the slow, agonizing disintegration of the family unit that drove him there. It is the soundtrack to psychological "cold war"—the silence, the alienation, and the secrets that suffocate a home.
The Sound:
Created by filmmaker and musician Paulo Chavarría, the album is built on the concept of "Audio Cinema." As an artistic choice, "Vol I" explores the project's more atmospheric, acoustic, and textural side. It unfolds with the patience of a film score, using dynamics and intimacy to score the collapse of a home.

FULL ALBUM OUT APRIL 27th 2026
Led by Norwegian/Costa Rican filmmaker Paulo Chavarría, Ozul is a studio-only "auteur" project.
Writing, performing, and mixing all material himself, Paulo approaches music composition like a film director—treating every song as a scene in a larger narrative.
The result is a dark, textured soundscape for fans of Riverside, Anathema, Katatonia and The Pineapple Thief.
The story continues in Stillborn Hope Vol II (Coming 2027).
